B. A. (VOCATIONAL STUDIES) PROGRAMME

The College offers the following Vocational Progammes in B.A. (Vocational Studies).

The new and revised structure of BA (VS) programme has been implemented in the reguler stream w.e.f. the academic year 2005-06. The overall structure of the Vocational Studies Progrmme includes a total of 12 courses over a 3-year period with 4 courses taught and examined each year.

Each Programme comprises of four categories of courses--
i.e. Vocational courses. Foundation course, Languge courses and Inter-disciplinary courses.
(a) Vocational courses are courses that provide basic and contemporary knowledge to the student in the chosen vocational programme.
(b) Language courses are courses to enhance lignuistic skills and literary sensibilities in students. (As applicable in B.A. of Delhi University)
(c) Foundation course is a course that familiarizes the student with computers and improves communication skills, enhancing the employment prospects of the student and paving the foundation for a better grasp of the Vocational courses.
(d) Inter-disciplinary courses are courses from other disciplines that complement the vocational courses and give additional competencies to the student.

A student shall study 4 vocational coursesin the chosen field of
specialiation.

Language Courses

A student shall study 4 language courses. Of these 2 shall be in
English and 2 shall be in Hindi*/other Modern Indian Language.

Appropriate language courses in streams A, B or C shall be
offered
to specific groups of students as in the BA Programme

Foundation Courses**

Computer Fundamentals, software packages and computerized
accounting and Busines Communication


Inter-disciplinary Courses

Relevant complementary Courses from B.A. application or B.A.
discipline or B.Com (Pass)courses for each programme.

NOTES:
1. A student who has not studied Hindi upto 8th Class level may opt for Political Science in lieu of M.I.L. Students have the option of studying Punjabi in lieu of Hindi as a MIL.
2. A Student who has not passed Hindi as a subject in 10th or +2 Examination will be required to appear in the compulsory Hindi test of the University during the three years or shall have to produce the elementary Hindi Examination certificate of the school level at the time of admission.
